Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ā Infinity Castle is a huge hit worldwide. In the U.S., it opened to about $70 million, the biggest opening ever for an anime movie. After strong runs in the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and India, the film has passed $500 million worldwide and is still growing.

Latin America had a big weekend with about $29 million. Mexico led with around $9.8 million, followed by Brazil ($4.4M), Peru ($2.8M), Argentina ($2.2M), and Chile ($2.2M). In Spain, it has reached about ā¬2.5 million with a small weekend drop, which shows good word of mouth. In India, the film started strong too, with around 16 crore INR on Day 1.
Now the big question is China. There are rumors online that the movie will be released in mainland China after October. This is not official yet, but if true, it could change everything. Previous Demon Slayer movies did not get a China release, so this would be a major step forward for the franchise.
Why does China matter so much? Because China is one of the largest movie markets in the world. Some foreign films have made over $500 million in China alone. For example, Avengers: Endgame made around „4.25 billion in China, which is roughly the $600 million range.
Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious each earned around Ā„2.4ā2.7 billion (about $350ā$390 million). Avengers: Infinity War did about Ā„2.39 billion (around $330 million). Aquaman made about Ā„2.01 billion (around $280 million), while family hits like Zootopia also passed Ā„1.5 billion (around $200+ million).
Even anime has broken out in China: Suzume made roughly $110 million, and The First Slam Dunk took in around $75 million. These examples show how much a China release can boost a filmās worldwide total. If Infinity Castle opens in China and performs at that level, the global total could jump fast.
Earlier, Forbes estimated the film could reach around $700 million worldwide. That estimate did not include China. With a China release, the ceiling gets higher. Without China, the film still has a path to $650 million thanks to strong holds across many countries. With China, the billion-dollar dream becomes possible, even if it is still a high target.
For fans, this is simple. The movie is already a smash. It is making money in every region it opens in. If China really gives the green light after October, Infinity Castle could make a lot more and push toward history. For now, we wait for an official China date, but the signs are good and the momentum is real.
