The teaser trailer, unveiled during the Jump Festa 2025 event, finally gave us a taste of what to expect when the series airs in October 2025.
3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei is the long-awaited anime adaptation of Tomohito Ōsaki’s spin-off novel series. This spinoff reimagines the Gintama characters in a high school setting with Gintoki Sakata as the chaotic homeroom teacher, Ginpachi.
For context, 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi-Sensei was originally announced back in Dec 2023, during the Jump Festa 2024.
This spin-off is based on Ōsaki’s novels, which were first released in 2006, running alongside the main manga and adding comedic, alternate-universe flair to the franchise. Fans have been clamoring for an anime adaptation for years, and after decades of waiting (and countless memes about delayed projects), it’s finally happening.

Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in December 2003. Known for its irreverent humor, fourth-wall breaks, and surprisingly emotional story arcs, the series ran until 2019, accumulating 77 volumes. At its peak, the manga sold over 58 million copies.
The anime, produced by Sunrise (later Bandai Namco Pictures), debuted in April 2006 and ran across multiple seasons, concluding with Gintama: The Very Final movie in 2021. The studio became synonymous with the franchise, mastering its tonal whiplash between absurd comedy and heartfelt drama.
