The surprise announcement wasn’t a season 5 but rather a two-part movie that will adapt the manga to its end. The collective title for the movies is “Haikyuu! Final.”

An exciting kick-off event was announced for August 19th, promising new information about the upcoming movies. The anticipation paid off when the official title of the first movie was revealed: “Haikyuu!! The Battle of the Garbage Dump.”

Haikyuu season 4 successfully adapted the manga up to chapter 292. The first part of the two-movie series will pick up right where season 4 left off.

These two-part movies will cover the remaining manga. This also answers the question that has been on every fan’s mind: will there be a season 5? The answer is most likely no. Not unless the author decides to pick up his pen again or there is a completely original story in the works.

Though the release date for Haikyuu’s movie Part 1 has not been officially announced yet, some speculation suggests that it will hit the big screens by the end of 2023.
