The news came from official X (formerly Twitter) account, and the timing couldn’t have been better. It happened right after the final episode aired, keeping fans right in the moment. No vague delays, no teasers without substance. Just a direct update. The new installment is officially called the sequel to season 2. It has not been confirmed whether it will be season 3 or a film.

Author Akumi Agitogi Shares a Message With Fans

Along with the announcement, original author Akumi Agitogi shared a thank-you note to viewers. She said Season 2 flew by quickly and was packed with developments that kept viewers engaged. But one line from her message stood out: “Have you noticed the title My Happy Marriage still hasn’t been fulfilled yet, which means the anime isn’t over.”

That line has sparked plenty of discussion. While Mio and Kiyoka have come a long way since Season 1, there’s still more growth ahead. The idea of a fully realized “happy marriage” is still ahead of them, and that’s what this next chapter seems set to explore.

Agitogi also said she’s grateful the story will continue and that she’s looking forward to seeing what happens next along with everyone else. She also made sure to thank the entire production team and the fans who supported the show.

New Visual and Recap Trailer Released

Right after the finale aired, fans got a new key visual showing Mio and Kiyoka in a close pose that highlights how much their relationship has developed. It’s a simple but effective image that shows how far they’ve come.

What’s the Anime About?

The series is set in a version of Taisho-era Japan, where people are ranked partly based on their supernatural abilities. Mio is born without powers in a family that values them, and she ends up being treated harshly. Eventually, she’s set up to marry Kiyoka, a military commander who’s known for being distant and hard to deal with.

But instead of turning cold or harsh, Kiyoka surprises her with kindness. As their connection builds, Mio starts to find confidence, and hidden powers of her own. The anime mixes personal moments with tension from supernatural threats, especially a group of mysterious beings known as grotesqueries.

That balance of emotional scenes and larger danger is a big part of what’s kept fans watching. The anime is handled by Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss), with Takehiro Kubota directing. The scripts are adapted by Takahiro and Mamoka Toyoda, based on Agitogi’s light novels.

Character design is by Shoko Yasuda, and the music is by Evan Call (Violet Evergarden). The songs have also gotten a lot of love: the opening, “Anata no Soba ni” by Riria, and the ending, “Vita Philosophica” by Kashitaro Ito, are both highly rated by fans.
