Komi can’t communicate first episode is already out in Japan. It is one of the most popular manga series that is getting an anime this Fall 2021. For many years, the fans of the series saw numerous mangas getting anime adaptation, but there was no news about Komi’s anime debut. As it turns out, the anime idea was pitched to the producers 3 years ago, but they weren’t interested at that time.

The proposal for anime adaptation was made by Nakagawa Hiromi, an animation director who has worked on anime adaptations like Date A Live and Wataten.
Nagakawa pitched the idea to the producers as he was interested in the manga at that time. The producers ended up declining the proposal. This story was tweeted out from Nagakawa personal Twitter account, but he quickly deleted the tweet to avoid any sort of controversy. He wrote:
In fact, about two or three years ago, I took the original work to a producer I knew asking if he would turn it into an anime but he said he had no plans to do so, when I saw that in the end he did turn it into an anime, I thought it was really interesting.
Komi reminds me a bit of the 90s, but maybe it’s just my imagination. However, the images are worth seeing with today’s technology.
Komi Can’t Communicate first episode was released on October 6 in Japan. As for the international audience, Netflix will stream the series starting from October 21.
