New Spring 2023 Anime Starts With A Horrendous CGI Animation

Nowadays, a great animation studio is often defined by its ability to create high-quality CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) animation. However, even the best studios can occasionally falter in maintaining consistency. Notable examples include My Hero Academia, Exception, Tesla Note, and the infamous Ex-Arm. A new Spring Anime has recently aired its first episode, and it may be a new contender for the worst animation ever.

New Spring Anime Starts With A Horrendous CGI Animation

The first episode of Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudou (Working for God in a Godless World) showcased some of the most appalling CGI-generated animations ever seen. The series premiered on April 5, 2023, and anime fans were quick to express their disappointment with the animation quality.

A Twitter post featuring a video clip from the anime demonstrates the monstrous CGI animation style, which appears as an awkward blend of 2D and 3D, with neither style properly visible in the result. Viewers did not hold back in sharing their opinions on this bizarre animation on Twitter. Some even compared it to the CGI from other anime like Shield Hero (The Turtle animation) and Arifureta (The Dragon animation). Ultimately, all these anime series seem to demonstrate a lack of effort from the CGI animation staff involved.

Some people weren’t shy and shared their views on this bizarre animation on Twitter:

  • First impressions of Kaminaki Sekai: The isekai looks watchable but too fast, and the CGI is awful. I’ll give it two more chances.
  • But what CGI was that? Yeah, it quickly killed my expectations for this adaptation, the animation and art style were already meh, but that’s the icing on the cake.
  • I wouldn’t be surprised if this CGI were used for comedy purposes.

Is this animation poor than Ex-Arm?

The question arises, is this animation even worse than Ex-Arm? From a certain perspective, Ex-Arm remains the king of bizarre animation, as it consistently displayed peculiar animations throughout the series. In contrast, “Working for God in a Godless World” does exhibit standard animation apart from the monster’s animation, and considering that Studio Palette, which animated the series, is relatively new (established in 2018), it may not dethrone Ex-Arm just yet.

Kamikatsu: Working for God in a Godless World Synopsis:

Yukito’s parents were the leaders of a cult, and they sacrificed him. However, he is reincarnated into a new world utterly different from his old one. In this world, there is no religion, and even erotic books are not considered severe. But there’s a catch – the ruling country determines people’s lives and deaths. When Yukito tries to save his friend from being executed, both end up dying. However, in that moment of despair, the god of his previous religion suddenly appears in their world and resurrects them, giving them a new lease on life. Where will the messed up life of Yukito lead him to in the future?
