What happened in the previous Chapter?
Solo Leveling chapter 167 was hyped and it definitely lived up to the expectation with some new information reveal.
Previously, chapter 166 ended on a cliffhanger with thousands of monsters coming appearing from the gate. Many fans speculated that these monsters were not the enemy but allies.
As it turns out, shadow monsters that appeared from the gate are the real shadow army. It was left to Sung Jin Woo from previous shadow monarch. I am not over exaggerating, but this new shadow army is a huge upgrade to SJW powers. This new army has 3 dragons with each having the power to threaten whole humanity.
Next, fans get introduced to a new character from the army called “Bellion”. He is the grand marshal of the army (the highest position in the army), and character design of Bellion is really cool. In the next scene, SJW is training the shadow army by dividing them into two groups when Beru appears. Berry challenges Bellion for the title of the grand marshal, but easily gets defeated.
The chapter ends with another mysterious looking figure appearing. According to some fans, he is the dragon monarch and might be the final opponent of SJW. After hearing that other shadow monarch has betrayed them, dragon monarch vows to end SJW.
