The Apothecary Diaries fans have plenty to be excited about. With the second half of Season 2 approaching, a captivating new visual and promotional video have arrived, hinting at intense drama ahead for the series’ clever heroine, Maomao. Season 2 part 2 will continue on April 4, 2025.
In a newly released key visual, Maomao is seen tied up with ropes during a strong snowstorm, clearly showing she’s in trouble. The scene’s tension increases with Maomao’s expression, determined yet clearly worried as she looks back to someone.
Interestingly, this visual came out alongside Episode 36, titled “Kasoyuzuki,” which aired on March 28, 2025, revealing the important truth about the mysterious character, Jinshi.
Along with the visual, a new promotional video gives viewers a first listen to the second half’s opening and ending theme songs. Popular band Mrs. Green Apple performs the opening theme, “Kusushiki,” bringing their unique style to The Apothecary Diaries.
Lead vocalist Motoki Omori talked about creating the song, mentioning that its title comes from “Kusushi,” an old Japanese word meaning mysterious and wonderful qualities that match medicine perfectly. Omori also noted their effort to include an oriental atmosphere with authentic melodies and instruments.
The song “Kusushiki” is centered around love that lasts beyond life, matching the series’ detailed relationships.
The ending theme, “Hitori Goto,” is performed by the talented group Amo Te. Vocalist Aino Teyang explained the song is intended to match the various emotions felt at the end of each episode, from happy to deeply emotional moments. “Hitori Goto,” meaning “soliloquy,” reflects the characters’ inner thoughts, offering a thoughtful and universally relatable feel.
Fans can hear these songs fully with the early release of non-credit opening and ending videos. The opening video premieres at 6:00 p.m. on April 4th, just before the second season’s Part 2 premiere, while the ending video comes out later at 11:30 p.m. Both will be streamable, allowing fans to enjoy the music ahead of the episode.
Season 2 of The Apothecary Diaries premiered on January 10th, 2025, continuing the collaboration between popular studios Toho Animation Studio and OLM.
