To Be Hero X: A China-Japan Coproduction Anime Releases 2nd Trailer and Key Visual

An original anime exploring heroism through trust, backed by a stellar cast and staff, set for global release in April 2025.

The upcoming anime To Be Hero X recently unveiled its second trailer and an official key visual, confirming its simultaneous global release, including in China, starting in April 2025.

This original anime is the third installment in the To Be Hero series, a unique collaboration between Chinese and Japanese creators. For international audiences (excluding Asia), the series will be available on Crunchyroll.

To Be Hero X continues the trend of China-Japan coproductions in the To Be Hero franchise. The series began with To Be Hero (2016) and To Be Heroine (2018), both produced by Emon Animation Company and directed by Shinichi Watanabe and Li Haoling, respectively.

These shows blended humor, satire, and action, offering a fresh take on superhero tropes.

The upcoming installment, To Be Hero X, presents an original story without a pre-existing source material like manga or light novels.

It builds upon the franchise’s tradition of exploring themes of trust, heroism, and societal dynamics, set in a world where individuals’ public “trust points” determine their hero ranking. The person with the highest points holds the title “X.”

The anime is set in a society where trust is quantifiable and displayed visibly on a person’s wrist. Accumulating trust points allows individuals to gain superhuman abilities, making this a world where heroism is as unpredictable as it is competitive.

The story explores the lives of 10 main heroes as they fight for justice, guided by their own convictions and personal backstories.

The newly released key visual highlights the 10 main heroes, clad in black-and-white-themed outfits, symbolizing the duality and complexity of their roles. The trailer offers glimpses into their backstories and heroic struggles.
