The Winter 2022 anime season (which starts in January) is nearly upon us and that means plenty of new anime to watch and fall in love with. Though one series has already started airing, (Kimetsu No Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen), many of the anime set for the winter season have yet to air.
Again, if you think any anime doesn’t deserve to be here remember this is off of MyAnimeList’s member count for each of these upcoming series. With that out of the way, let’s jump into this list, as usual, the list is sorted from lowest to highest. Hopefully at least one of these titles interest you enough to watch it!
10. Sasaki to Miyano
Release: January 10, 2022
Up first we have the anime with the least amount of members in the top ten, Sasaki to Miyano. Originally a manga, Sasaki to Miyano is a yaoi romance anime, otherwise known as a boys love series or just “BL” for short. The series is animated by Studio Deen, the same studio behind both seasons of the recent hit Konosuba. The studio is also behind some older major hits such as Fate/stay night (2006), Fruits Basket (2001), Hetalia Axis Powers (2009), and Ranma 1/2 (1989). It is currently unknown how many episodes Sasaki to Miyano will be but it will most likely be something short seeing as how the manga doesn’t have that many chapters.
Miyano spends his days peacefully reading Boys’ love comics while worrying about how girly his face is, that is until a brief scuffle between his senior, Sasaki. Intrigued by his feisty junior the delinquent Sasaki uses every opportunity he can to get closer to Miyano.

Did you enjoy Princess Connect! Re:Dive season 1? Well, good news season 2 is nearly here and the series is looking better than ever. Based on the popular JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) of the same name, the series is known to be something very akin to the Konasuba series, which makes sense seeing as how they share a director. Both the first season and the second season are animated by CygamesPictures, a subsidiary animation studio of the creator of the Princess Connect games, Cygames. If you have yet to watch the first season we urge you to do so before season 2 releases!

7. Teasing Master Takagi-San 3rd Season
Release: January 8, 2022
Chances are you have probably heard of our next entry Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, otherwise known as Teasing Master Takagi -san in English. The series, now coming onto its 3rd season began releasing in Winter 2018 and has since proceeded to only get more popular. Based on the hit manga of the same name, Takagi-san is a wholesome read cover to cover, in fact, fans loved the manga so much that it actually has three spin-off mangas, one where the main duo are adults! Animated by Shin-Ei Animation, the studio behind the infamous Doraemon character and all of its television outings as well as the upcoming Kakkou no Iinazuke anime adaptation, the series is sure to be in good hands. It is currently unknown how many episodes this season of Takagi-san will be, but seeing as how past seasons were all 12 episodes this season will probably follow suit.
Mischievous middle school boy, Nishikata has devised the perfect master plan to get back at Takagi, the girl seated next to him. After months of relentless teasing Nishikita is about to get his revenge, when Takagi halts all his plans with a single comment. Turning the tables on him again. Ever since the duo has entered middle school they have had an unspoken rule between them, “if you blush, you lose.” Day after day, loss after loss Nishikita strives to see Takagi red with embarrassment but his attempts are only met with ridicule. Beyond the vicious cycle of teasing and outsmarting one and another will the duo’s relationship ever evolve?
6. The Case Study of Vanitas 2nd Season
Release: January 15, 2022
I’m sure almost everyone has seen the second main character of The Case Study of Vanitas otherwise known as Vanitas no Karte. The real question is do you know what anime he is from? The recent bishounen anime series The Case Study of Vanitas grabbed watchers and amassed fans so quickly it’s already back for its second season when season 1 just aired in the Summer of 2021! Animated by the infamous Studio Bones, the studio behind My Hero Academia as well as other popular series such as Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Noragami, and Mob Psycho. We can safely say the animation for this series is in good hands. It is currently unknown how many episodes the upcoming season is, however through pure guessing I would expect it to be around the standard 12 episodes.
There once lived a vampire known as Vanitas, he was hated by his own kind for being born under the blue moon when most of his kind are born under the crimson moon. Afraid and alone Vanitas created the “Book of Vanitas,” a cursed grimoire that would one day take revenge on all vampires; at least that’s how the story was supposed to go. Set in the 19th century, the series follows Noé Archiviste, a young man who is currently traveling to Paris to find this “Book of Vanitas.” A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet doctor Vanitas, a doctor who specializes in vampires, holds the “Book of Vanitas,” and seems to be a normal human!? The mysterious man has inherited both the name and the book from the Vanitas of legends and now uses the cursed book to heal vampires. However, behind his kindness may lay something sinister…
5. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom 2nd Season
Release: January 9, 2022
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, known in Japanese as, Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki, is definitely not an anime I thought would be getting a season 2, to say the least. The first season aired just recently in the Summer of 2021, alongside The Case Study of Vanitas, the series is a typical, yet interesting isekai harem with some military aspects. Animated by J.C.Staff, the same studio behind hits like Toradora, Food Wars, and The Way of Househusband, this series is definitely a wild card. The episode count for this series is yet to be revealed but I wouldn’t expect it to have more than the typical 12 episodes seasonal release.
Kazou Soumo is summoned into another world and his adventures in this great new world are set to begin so- NOT! Instead of going on adventures, Kazou Souma presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily to the king of this land. The king amazed by his plans gives up the throne to Kazou, what’s more, he’s betrothed Kazou to his daughter?! In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls five of the wisest and gifted people to his side. What path will a realist such as Kazou take for his new country and what will it mean for his people?! Watch as he continues his new life in season 2!

2. Attack on Titan Final Season, Part 2
Release: January 10, 2022
Does this one even need an introduction? Only seconded to Kimetsu No Yaiba’s new season, Attack On Titan, also known as Shingeki No Kyojin is back for its FINAL season…part 2. Adapted straight from the pages of Hajime Isayama’s now-famous Attack On Titan manga, Part 2 is sure to be full with a lot of characters, fighting, and possibly disappointment if the not-so-liked manga ending is animated scene for scene. It is rumored that Part 2 will wrap up its story in only 12 episodes, however, nothing has yet to come out officially. Be sure to check out our recent AOT breakdown where we fill you in on everything you need to know before part 2 releases!
Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by three enormous walls that protect them from the gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans; the story follows Eren Yeager, who vows to exterminate the Titans after a Titan brings about the destruction of his hometown and the death of his mother.

Of course, other continued tv anime are still airing during this time, however, since they do not count as Winter 2022 season anime we have decided not to count them. But don’t worry as you can still enjoy weekly releases for the likes of One Piece, Boruto, and Platinum End! The anime 86 was also meant to be airing during this time but its last two episodes have been delayed to March 2022 instead for unknown reasons.
