“Toradora!” has been suddenly removed from Crunchyroll, and no, there was no prior warning or announcement.

This move is already affecting a lot of people, especially viewers outside the U.S., who now have no legal way to watch the anime anywhere. If you were hoping to binge it again or recommend it to someone, you’re pretty much out of luck, at least for now.
It Just Disappeared – No Explanation
As of early April 2025, Toradora! is no longer showing up on Crunchyroll. There wasn’t any kind of update, expiration alert, or tweet about it. It was just quietly pulled from the platform.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, Toradora! had already vanished from Netflix in almost all the countries a few months ago. Now, with its removal from Crunchyroll, there’s no legal streaming option for most international fans anymore.
In the U.S., it’s still available on Amazon Prime Video, either as part of your subscription or as a show you can buy outright. However, only the subbed version is availble whie Dubbed version is nowhere to be found even in the U.S. But for people outside the States, both the sub and dub options are gone, and even the Prime listing could change in the future.
Why Does This Keep Happening?
In short, it all comes down to streaming licenses. Anime streaming services like Crunchyroll don’t actually own the rights to these shows, they rent the rights for a set time and specific regions.
Once that rental (or license) ends, or if the company that owns the anime decides to pull it and sell it elsewhere, the show disappears, often without notice.
Crunchyroll has done this before. In March 2022, series like Akame ga Kill! and Amagi Brilliant Park were suddenly removed. In January 2023, manga like Edens Zero and UQ Holder also disappeared. So this isn’t anything new, just another example of how unreliable these platforms can be when licenses run out.
A Quick Reminder of Why “Toradora!” Is So Loved
If you’ve never watched it, Toradora! is a romantic comedy that mixes hilarious moments with serious emotional development. The story follows Ryuuji Takasu, a kind-hearted guy who looks scary at first glance, and Taiga Aisaka, a tiny girl with a loud personality, also known as the “Palmtop Tiger.”
They form an awkward alliance to help each other win over their crushes. But over time, their friendship slowly turns into something deeper. It’s not rushed, and the emotional growth feels real, which is why so many people still talk about the show today.
The series originally aired in 2008, animated by J.C. Staff, and ran for 25 episodes. It was based on a light novel by Yuyuko Takemiya, first published in 2006. Over the years, the anime gained a huge fanbase and is often recommended as a gateway series for newcomers to romantic anime.
The ending of Toradora! is also widely praised. It’s often described as bittersweet but meaningful, and fans still discuss it over a decade later.
What You Can (and Can’t) Do Now
Right now, the only official way to watch the full series (sub version) is through Amazon Prime Video in the United States. You can stream it with a Prime membership or buy the episodes.
But if you’re outside the U.S., as of now, there are no legal streaming platforms offering the series. It’s completely unavailable. And even for U.S. viewers, availability on Prime isn’t guaranteed forever, since these licensing deals change all the time.
