In an announcement during the recent Anime Expo, Warner Bros. and Wit Studio have revealed their collaboration on an unexpected project: an isekai anime featuring beloved DC characters.
Titled “Suicide Squad Isekai,” this anime promises to bring a fresh perspective to iconic figures like Harley Quinn and Joker.
A trailer showcasing these characters and hinting at the chaos they will cause in their new anime universe has already been released, fueling anticipation among fans worldwide.
One of the most exciting aspects of “Suicide Squad Isekai” is the assembly of industry luminaries who will contribute their talents to the series.
Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, renowned for their work on the light novels Re: Zero and Vivy Prototype, have been appointed to provide the script for the anime.
Their involvement in the project is particularly noteworthy, as the success of these light novels has left fans eager to see how the duo will adapt the Suicide Squad into an anime context.
Additionally, Eir Osada, known for directing numerous episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen and Gintama, will helm the series.
The announcement art featuring Harley Quinn, which was released along with the announcement, was created by manga artist Akira Amano, famous for ēlDLIVE, Reborn!, and Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective. Amano will also be responsible for drafting the original characters.
Naoto Hosoda, whose previous works include Seiren and Digimon: The Movie, is on board for character design.
The music, a crucial element in setting the series’ tone, will be composed by Kenichiro Suehiro, whose impressive portfolio includes Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Golden Kamuy, and Undead Unluck.
Rounding out this dream team is Shinya Tsuruoka from Warner Bros. Japan, who will serve as the animation producer for the project.
Wit Studio is known for animating Attack on Titan and Ranking of Kings anime. They collaborated with CloverWorks studios to animate the Spy x Family anime series.
