MyAnimeList, the biggest online database for anime and manga, just shared the results of its “Manga That Should Be Anime” poll. The list features 20 manga series that fans and members of the website voted for as the ones they most want to see adapted into anime.
It’s no surprise that “Sakamoto Days” topped the list, as it’s one of the most popular and well-loved series among manga readers. The poll results give us a great idea of which manga series have captured the hearts of fans and which ones they’re eager to see brought to life on the screen.
1. Sakamoto Days
Taro Sakamoto, once a feared hitman, now lives a quiet life running a convenience store with his wife and daughter. When a group of assassins discovers his true identity, Sakamoto must use his old skills to protect his family and new way of life.
2. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
“Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku” is a heartwarming manga about an unlikely friendship between two students from rival schools. Rintarou Tsumugi, a kind-hearted boy from Chidori Public High School, is often misjudged due to his intimidating appearance.
Kaoruko Waguri, a bubbly girl from the prestigious Kikyo Private Academy, sees past Rintarou’s exterior and believes in his good nature. Despite the animosity between their schools, Rintarou and Kaoruko form a special bond that challenges stereotypes and prejudices.
3. Choujin X
From the same creator as Tokyo Ghoul manga, “Choujin X” follows childhood friends Tokio and Azuma as they navigate a world where superpowers are real. After a terrorist attack, Tokio gains abilities and becomes a “Choujin.”
The two friends find themselves in a hidden society of superpowered individuals, each with their own agendas. As they face challenges and uncover secrets, Tokio and Azuma must fight to protect what matters most.

4. Gachiakuta
“Gachiakuta” is set in a world divided by class, where the poor Akuta lives in the shadow of the wealthy Gachi. Rudo, a young man from Akuta with a special ability, is framed for a crime and exiled to a dangerous prison called the “Pit.”
There, he meets others with unique powers and uncovers a dark secret that threatens both Akuta and Gachi. With his new allies, Rudo must fight to survive, reveal the truth, and create a better future.
5. Gokurakugai
Gokurakugai, a lively working-class district, hides a dark side beneath its bustling streets. Tao and Alma, two troubleshooters for hire, take on various dangerous assignments in this lawless area. From finding missing persons to investigating disfigured animal corpses, they must unravel the truth behind Gokurakugai’s mysteries.
As they go deeper, evil spirits in the shadows bring out hidden aspects of their personalities and abilities. Tao and Alma must fight to protect the residents and maintain their own sanity in this thrilling manga series.

6. Shounen no Abyss
“Shounen no Abyss” follows Reiji Kurose, a high school student trapped in a world of despair. His mentally unstable mother, absent father, and constant bullying at school leave him with only one bright spot: his childhood friend and crush, Nagi.
When Reiji discovers that Nagi is dating his teacher, Yuko, he becomes consumed by jealousy and desperation. As he navigates twisted relationships with Nagi, Yuko, and a mysterious girl named Chako, Reiji questions his sanity and the true nature of those around him.
