A Romance Anime About A Tomboy Will Be Released In Jan 2023

Romance-comedy anime about a Tomboy titled ‘Tomo-chan is a girl’ will be released in January 2023. The announcement was made during the Crunchyroll panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Studio Lay-duce (known for ‘O Maidens in Your Savage Season’, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad) will be animating the series while Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime. A new trailer has been released:

The series tells the story of Tomo and Jun who have been best friends since they were little kids. Now that they are in high school and grown up, Tomo wants them to become more than just best friends. The problem is that Jun only sees Tomo as a boy. However, Tomo is determined to prove to Jun that she is a woman.

The voice cast includes:

  • Rie Takahashi (Megumin, Emilia, Takagi) as Tomo Aizawa.
  • Kaito Ishikawa (Genos, Naofumi, Kagiyama) as Junichiro Kubota.
  • Rina Hidaka as (Enju, Nagisa) Misuzu Gundo.
  • Sally Amaki (Betsy ‘Kaguya Sama Love Is War’) as Carol Olston.

The series will be directed by Hitoshi Namba at Lay-duce studios. Megumi Shimizu will write the script, and the character design will be done by Shiroi Hiraiwa. Masaru Yokoyama is in charge of sound track composition.

Tomo Chan is a girl anime series is based on the manga of the same name, written and drawn by Fumita Yanagida. He began publishing the manga in April 2015 in Saizensen magazine and finished it in July 2019 with a total of eight compiled book volumes published.
