When it comes to anime, it won’t be wrong to say that Naruto is still one of the most popular anime series and the main character of the series, Naruto Uzumaki is a role model for many anime fans. On the Father’s day, a fan shared their opinion that the Hokage of Konoha village is not an exemplary father and many fans seem to agree with them.
From the start of the anime, Naruto’s goal was to become the Hokage of Konoha village. He worked hard, saved Sasuke, saved the world from being harvested as a food source for aliens, and finally achieved his dream of being the Hokage. The Naruto Shippuden series ended after that, and all was good until Boruto series began. We saw how hard Naruto is working for the sake of his village, and often sacrifices family time as well.
A Twitter user shared a clip from Boruto series where Naruto and his family are celebrating Himawari’s birthday. However, Naruto is too busy with the Hokage work to attend his daughter’s birthday, but to make it up for that, he sends his clone instead. Just as Naruto’s clone is walking towards the dinner table, he probably runs out of chakra and his clone vanishes. On top of that, the birthday cake falls on the floor. Himawari seems disappointed, but Boruto seems to be really angry.
Many netizens have retweeted this, agreeing that this scene is so out of character for Naruto considering that he grew up alone, and knows how it feels like to not have your parents around.
Another fan commented that Naruto should have left his clone in his office, and spend more time with his kids.
Obviously not a single person is perfect. Everyone has their flaws but Naruto being written as a bad father doesn’t match his character.
Another argument can be made that Naruto acts like this because he doesn’t know how to be a good parent. Naruto grew up alone, so he doesn’t have any example to follow to be a good father. Not all is lost for father Naruto as he makes up for his mistakes by spending an entire day with Himawari on Parent and Child day (episode 93 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generation). His relationship with Boruto also gets better with time.
