The plot revolves around Aoi Ashito, a middle school student who is in love with football and dreams of becoming a pro. On the other hand, his financial circumstances don’t allow him to pursue his dreams. However, Aoi doesn’t let his current circumstance get in his way of achieving his goal of becoming a pro.
He got his first breakthrough when he was scouted by J-league team coach Fukuda, a former player. He was called for a tryout at Tokyo Esperion by Coach Fukuda, who seems to recognize his latent abilities.
After many difficulties in the tryouts, he somehow managed to get selected for the B team. But his trouble doesn’t end here. Due to his lack of training, he is barely able to manage with his teammates at all.
Will this end his journey, or will he overcome every obstacle and become a pro?
Episode 20 Recap:
In the previous episode, we saw a flashback story of Togashi, who was at trial in Tokyo Esperion. Despite never being played or trained under a proper club. He somehow manages to play decently and earn his teammate’s trust.
However, he soon realises that his teammates don’t treat him as their equal, more like a player they can use according to their suitability. In their second game, their playstyle changes a lot, Togashi who was still unaware of the situation and fails to understand what is happening.
Upon paying close attention, he realises that the junior youth team manager was there to scout them. After witnessing the reality, he gets into a heated argument with his teammates.
Their next match is against Mushashino, who is still yet to be defeated by any team in their league. Not to forget that Tachibana was a former player for the team. But will they end their undefeated run, or will it end as a loss on their part?
