It was confirmed that Attack on Titan final season will only have 16 epsiodes and considering the pacing of episodes so far, it is not possible to cover the entire manga story in the remaining episodes.
Some fans were even suggesting that the final season will end on a cliff hanger with a follow up movie to end the series but it seems this is no longer the case. The pacing of anime is so slow that animation studio will have to make atleast 2 or 3 movies to cover the entire story.
According to the latest leaks, Attack on Titan final season will end on chapter 116 of the manga and animation Studio will have 23 manga chapters left, which can be easily adopted to a 12 episodes final season part 2.
According to the new leaks, AoT episode 13 is titled “Children of the Forest” which will adopt chapter 111 and AoT episode 14 is titled “Savagery” which will cover chapter 113.
What is the possibility of Final Season Part 2?
It has been already confirmed by AoT final season director that the whole story of Attack on Titan will be adopted and considering which chapters are being animated in the recent episodes, Here are the 2 possiblities that might happen:
- A Movie & A Final Season Part 2 – As much as it is harder to believe, a movie and a final season part 2 is a very much possibility now. As episode 16 might end on Chapter 116, Ch 116-122 can be easily adopted into a movie with remaining chapters 122-139 can be made into final season part 2.
- A 12 Episode Final Season Part 2 – It is also a possibility that we will get a full 12 episode season with an expected release date of 2023. This will give a lot of time to animators for a good adaptation of the manga.
Attack on Titan is a manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, started publication in Kodansha’s weekly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in September 2009. Final chater of the series is set to be published on April 9, 2020.
