The official Twitter account of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan anime series announced that the final season will be getting a part 3. The announcement came after the broadcast of the last episode of Attack on Titan final season part 2.
The part 3 of the final season is officially titled “Attack on Titan: The Final Season Final Arc”. The official Twitter account of Shingeki no Kyojin anime series also revealed a teaser trailer, and the key visual of the series.
Earlier, there were many rumours circulating on social media that Attack on Titan final season will end with a movie instead of a final season part 3. The main reason behind that was that there isn’t enough material for a 12 episode season.
Attack on Titan final season part 3 will be released in 2023. If you are wondering how many will part 3 have? As described earlier, there is not that much source material left. Only 10 to 12 chapters will not be enough for a full 12 episode anime series, so most likely it will be a short series of 6 or 8 episodes. As there are less episodes to be animated, the final season part 3 will most likely release in early 2023.
Attack on Titan anime is based on a manga series, written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, who started the manga serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009. The series came to an end in 2021, after releasing 139 chapters, which were compiled in 34 volumes.
The manga series was picked up by the Wit Studio for an anime adaptation, who released the first anime season in 2013. The second season was released in 2017, followed by the 3rd season in 2018. After the release of the third season, Wit Studio was not able to carry on animating the Attack on Titan series due to various reasons.
Mappa Studio picked up the series for the final season. The first part of the final season aired in 2020, having a total of 16 episodes. The 2nd part of the final season started airing in January 2022. There is also a spinoff manga series of Attack on Titan anime series that you should check out.
