During the Jump Festa 2023 event, it was announced that the anime adaptation of Kazue Kato’s manga, Blue Exorcist, also known as Ao no Exorcist will get a new anime season. A 20-second promotional video has been released. The announcement did not specify whether the new anime series will be a reboot and follow the story where season 1 left off.
Along with a promotional video, a teaser visual was also released. More information will be announced on the anime’s official website and official Twitter account.
Blue Exorcist anime is based on the dark fantasy manga of the same name, written and drawn by Kazue Kato. He began publishing the manga in Shueisha’s Jump Square in April 2009, and as of Nov 2022, the manga chapters have been collected into 22 volumes.
Studio A-1 Pictures picked up the manga for an anime adaptation. The first season aired from April to October 2011, followed by the second in January 2017. The series also got an anime film adaptation titled “Blue Exorcist: The Movie”, which premiered in Dec 2012. The new Blue Exorcist anime series is expected to be season 3, however, no official details have been released yet.
