Blue Lock: Haikyuu For Football Fans Will Release In October 2022

Japanese sports-thriller manga series, Blue Lock, finally gets the official release date, and this is a sports anime that Haikyuu fans should not miss out on. Blue Lock manga series has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since August 2018. The story takes place in modern-day Japan where the Japanese soccer team performs poorly and finishes 16th in FIFA World Cup.

Given the current state of Japanese soccer, the Japanese Football Association hires the enigmatic and eccentric coach Jinpachi Ego to help them win the World Cup. Jinpachi believes that Japan has lacked an egoistic striker hungry for goals, and because of that, they lost the World Cup.

To find the next striker, Jinpachi initiates the Blue Lock, a prison-like facility where three hundred talented strikers from high schools all over Japan are isolated and pitted against each other. One and only survivor of Blue Lock will earn the right to be the national team’s striker, while those who are defeated will be permanently disallowed from joining the team.

Yoichi Isagi, the series’ main character, is a striker who couldn’t help his high school soccer team to qualify for the national tournament. Yoichi couldn’t help but wonder if the results would have been different if he refused to pass the ball to his teammates and played selfishly. Yoichi hopes to use the Blue Lock Project’s golden opportunity to dispel his doubts and pursue his ultimate goal of becoming the greatest striker in the world and leading Japan to World Cup victory.
