In this episode, Momo and Okarun head to Jiji’s house in a hot spring town to investigate a family-related incident. The journey itself seems to hold some emotional tension: Okarun begins to feel uneasy about Momo and Jiji’s growing closeness but can’t help starting to respect Jiji’s kindness.
Once they reach the remote mountains and arrive at Jiji’s house, they step inside, unaware that shadowy figures are silently watching their every move.
New Cast: Naki Kito
Veteran voice actress Mansako Isobe joins the cast as Naki Kito, an elderly yet intimidating head of the Kito family, described as the “strongest old hag” overseeing the village where Jiji has recently moved.
Naki’s personality is no-nonsense; she’s the type to demand respect and proper manners from anyone living on her land—and to enforce it if necessary.
For those unfamiliar with Isobe’s extensive career, she has been voicing anime characters for decades. Some of her notable roles include:
- Granny Chiyo (Naruto)
- Old Witch (Howl’s Moving Castle)
- Fuyutsuki Yukino’s Grandmother (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU)
It’s always a treat to see seasoned voice actors bring depth and nuance to a character, and given Naki’s important role in Jiji’s storyline, Isobe’s casting feels like a perfect fit.

The Evil Eye
The preview also teases the Evil Eye, a new supernatural presence that’s been tormenting Jiji since his move to the village. This being not only appears in Jiji’s nightmares but has now been revealed visually in the previews. Interestingly, the voice actor for this character hasn’t been disclosed yet.
