Demon Slayer has been a huge hit since studio Ufotable’s 2019 anime adaptation, breaking records along the way and even finding time to dethrone the king of manga, One Piece. Ufotable then adapted the next arc into a movie called Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the Train story-arc. This became the highest-grossing film in Japanese box office history, surpassing 2001’s classic Spirited Away.
As of March this year, the total estimated manga sales are more than 150 million worldwide which is 10 times higher than sales of western comics which sold 15.5 million copies worldwide.
It’s also lead many fans to speculate why demon slayer manga is now selling more than American comic books. American comic books are politics heavy. They also seem to be pushing agendas and certain ways of thinking. When you compare “Demon Slayer” to the motivations of normal characters in manga, there is a huge difference between the two.
Now that the season 2 of Demon Slayer series is already announced for Oct 2021, manga sales are likely to increase even more.
