Riichiro Inagaki’s fantasy-action manga series, Dr Stone has officially ended after releasing chapter 232 (the final chapter) in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #14. The series started serialization on March 6, 2017, and released the final chapter on March 6, 2022.
The final chapter of the series is currently available in English on Manga Plus, and Viz. The series will also get a special manga chapter in Summer, which will center around Ryusui. After the manga chapter release, a special episode will be broadcasted, titled “Dr Stone: Ryusui”. Dr Stone season 3 is scheduled to air in 2023.
Dr Stone manga is written by Inagaki, and drawn by Bochi. They started publishing the manga in Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2017. The manga inspired a 24 episode anime adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment studios in July 2019. The 2nd season aired in Jan 2021, while season 3 is scheduled for 2023.
The Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has given us a lot of hit manga series, however, lately there is a trend from the manga authors to end the series while it is still popular. Some of the recent examples are Demon Slayer, Fire Force, and Chainsaw Man. Now, It looks like Dr Stone will be joining this list as well.
Final Chapter Summary
So what exactly happened in the series finale? Well, for one, Senku and the rest of the space voyagers make a safe landing back on Earth and are soon rewarded with medals for their trip. But that’s not what you came for, the real finale begins after a quick time skip. It’s unknown how much of a skip but it seems that a majority of humanity has been restored.
We see some basic aircrafts and cars, but possibly the best thing revealed is Taiju and Yuzuhirha’s wedding! There we see all our favorite characters, relaxing together and just overall being happy. As the wedding starts to wraps up, Taiju declares that he’s going to bring some cake to Senju and the rest of the science team. Most of the main cast decides to follow him to see what’s going on in the lab, and there they see an enormous new invention, in the shape of a medusa. And as the series closes out its final chapter Senku declares that he’s building…a time machine!
Thousands of years have passed since the humanity was instantly petrified by a mysterious phenomenon. Senku, a genius boy awakens. In a stone world where civilization has perished, Senku decides to rebuild using his knowledge of science. However, the armed empire led by the strongest high school student stands in the way, as they try to prevent the development of science.
