Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 2 Officially Announced

Romance-comedy manga series, Girlfriend Girlfriend (also known as Kanojo mo Kanojo) season 2 has been officially announced. The new information about season 2 was revealed by the anime website of Girlfriend Girlfriend anime series. The release date for Kanojo mo Kanojo season 2 is yet to be revealed, but an official visual, illustrated by the author himself, has been released.

The Girlfriend Girlfriend anime is based on the manga of the same name, written by Hiroyuki. In March 2020, Hiroyuki began releasing the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The eleventh compiled volume was released on June 17, followed by the twelfth on September 16 in Japan. Hiroyuki is also the author of manga such as Aho Girl, Doujin Work, and Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to, all of which have been adapted into anime.

The manga series inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation directed by Satoshi Kuwahara under Tezuka Productions studio, and screenplays written by Keiichirou Oochi, which aired during the Summer-2021 season (July-September). The first season of the Kanojo mo Kanojo received a mixed responses from the audience, getting a rating of 6.56/10 on MyAnimeList.

Synopsis

After years of unrequited love, Naoya Mukai finally gets a date with his childhood friend, Saki Saki. However, just as he is about to commit to this relationship, Nagisa Minase makes a startling confession. Naoya tries to reject her at first, but is soon overcome by feelings of not wanting to hurt her. To avoid breaking his girlfriend’s trust, Naoya comes up with a “solution” to make them both happy: dating them both. Saki first resists the plan, but with Naoya and Nagisa’s perseverance, she eventually agrees. With this, a three-person romance begins between Naoya, his girlfriend, and his other girlfriend, who already have an unconventional relationship.
