Before we dive into the mystery that is Gojo’s fate in Jujutsu Kaisen, let’s paint the scene for those who may not be fully immersed in the world of manga. Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga and anime series, that follows high school student Yuji Itadori and his journey in the world of Jujutsu Sorcerers.
In this amazing world, one character has stood out – Satoru Gojo. With his extraordinary powers and icy-blue eyes (the ‘Six Eyes’), Gojo is a force to be reckoned with. His Infinity barrier and the limitless void of his Domain Expansion are what set him apart in a world filled with powerful sorcerers and curses.
Is Gojo Dead? Yes. According to Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, Gojo has been defeated by Sukuna. His body was torn in half.
Update September 20, 2023: Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236 reveals that the long ongoing battle between Gojo and Sukuna resulted in Sukuna’s victory. In previous chapters, it looked like Gojo had won, but that was not the case.
Chapter 236 starts with a flashback of Gojo meeting with Geto and Nanami and saying sort of goodbye to them. We also finally got the answer to the question of who is stronger between Gojo and Sukuna.
Geto asked Gojo how was the king of curses; Gojo said that Sukuna was strong and he didn’t even go all out against him to defeat him. Gojo further revealed that even if Sukuna didn’t have Megumi’s CT, he is not sure that he can win against Sukuna.
Will Gojo Survive?
Gojo Satoru will likely not survive this severe injury. In chapter 225, he was severely injured with a deep cut on his neck, but he was able to recover due to his healing powers.
However, chapter 236 showcases that Gojo’s body has been split in half. This is the type of injury that not even the most powerful sorcerer can come back from.
Gojo Will Most Likely Not Die?
Gojo’s survival depends on the power of his Domain and his ability to withstand Sukuna’s relentless attacks. If anyone can pull off a comeback, it’s Gojo. However, this is uncharted territory, even for him, and the suspense is keeping us all on our toes.
On the other hand, killing off the most popular character of the series (Yes, even more popular than Yuji Itadori) doesn’t make sense as it will likely upset the majority of the fandom.
As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time he’s been on the brink of death. His track record of surviving dangerous encounters, like the battle with Toji, gives us a glimmer of hope.
Until the spoilers for the next chapter drop, we can only speculate about Gojo’s fate. For now, we’ll have to wait and see how the story unfolds. Whether you’re a manga devotee or a casual observer, one thing’s for sure – we’re all rooting for Gojo.
