Japan stunned the whole world with an upset victory over one of the tournament favourites, Germany, during the FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar. Blue Lock fans were quick to notice that how the victory came to be was actually close to what the Blue Lock project will look like in real life.
If you don’t know, Blue Lock is a hit anime and manga series, which takes place in present-day Japan, where Japan lost the Football World Cup and exited in the early stages. Japan’s Football federation hires a coach who believes that Japan is lacking an egoistic striker in their team. To find that next striker in Japan, he starts a prison-like facility for young players, and the facility is called Blue Lock.
In Germany vs Japan match, Germany took an early lead with Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scoring on a penalty at 33 minutes. However, Japan made a remarkable comeback in the later part of the game with striker Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano scoring back-to-back goals in a matter of 15 minutes, resulting in a historic win for Japan.
The 2nd goal scored by Japan especially caught the eye of many Blue Lock fans.
