Fans of “Jujutsu Kaisen” have been holding their breath since Nobara Kugisaki’s brutal fight against Mahito. The battle left Nobara gravely injured, with many readers clinging to hope for her return. That hope has now been extinguished.
The battle against Mahito was a showcase of Nobara’s skills and determination. Facing off against one of the series’ most formidable villains, Nobara demonstrated her growth as a Jujutsu sorcerer.
She employed her Straw Doll technique with cunning and precision, even managing to inflict damage on the seemingly invulnerable Mahito.
However, the tide of battle turned brutally. Mahito, with his ability to manipulate the shape of souls, launched a devastating attack and Nobara’s face was partially destroyed by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration technique.
Despite the brutal injuries of Nobaro, fans never got the official confirmation (until now) about Nobara’s fate. Many were clinging to the hope that they will be able to see Nobara in the future storyline.
However, Gege Akutami, the creator of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” recently dropped a bombshell at a series exhibition in Japan. Akutami confirmed that Nobara is never coming back.
The author’s decision wasn’t a recent one. Akutami had planned to kill both Nobara and Nanami in the Shibuya arc even before it began in the manga.
In the same interview, Akutami also confirmed that Satoru Gojo, another fan-favorite character, won’t be returning either.
For fans, this news is bittersweet. While it closes the door on beloved characters, it also reinforces the series’ reputation for bold storytelling choices.

It follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host.
