Jujutsu Kaisen author Gege Akutami is notorious for breaking manga readers’ hearts, and recently the author dropped another bomb on Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

If you are a manga reader, you would be aware of what happened in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in the past year. Gojo Satoru, the strongest sorcerer, went against the king of curses, Sukuna.
After a fierce battle, Gojo met his demise in chapter 236. Gojo was split in half, but many Jujutsu Kaisen fans still had hope that he would somehow come back. After all, he is the most popular character in the series, and killing him means there could be a potential loss of interest from manga readers.
However, recently Gege Akutami has confirmed that he has already drawn a funeral for Gojo Satoru.
Currently, a special exhibition of Jujutsu Kaisen is being held in Japan. The exhibition will feature the behind-the-scenes story of the creation of Jujutsu Kaisen, revealing the process of creating the works using digital drawing methods, along with commentary and QnA section from the author.
The exhibition will be held from 6 July to 27 August 2024 in the Hikarie Hall of Shibuya Hikarie, which is a high-rise shopping complex directly connected to Shibuya Station.
According to a popular X (formerly Twitter) account @Go_Jover, Akutami Gege confirmed in Art Exhibition that Jujutsu Kaisen volume 26 serves as the “Funeral Portrait” of Gojo Satoru.

- Toji is modeled after Jason Statham.
- Before beginning Shibuya Arc, Gege had already decided to eliminate Nanami & Nobara in Shibuya.
- Gege says the characters who don’t have the appeal to make readers sad when they die, don’t need to die (The reason Mei Mei hasn’t died)

Question: Why did Mei Mei escape Shibuya and something else (death) didnt happen to her?
Answer: I don’t think a character should die if readers don’t feel any emotion for them like sadness.
Question: What would you comment on the cover of (Jujutsu Kaisen) Volume 26?
Answer: You know I really wanted to draw a poster for Satoru in honor of his death, I really liked that idea.
TL:DR Gege Akutami has just confirmed that both Nobara and Gojo Satoru are dead. Previously, there were specualtions that Nobara could still be alive since we had heard of her or seen her after she was heavily injured by Mahito.
Same goes for Gojo Satoru, where fans gave various theories on how Gojo Satoru can come back. However, the recent information has almost decrease the chances of that happening to zero.

Moreover, in a previous interview, Gege Akutami said that either one person from Gojo, Nobora, Yuji and Megumi will die, or all will die except one person. From the looks of things in the manga, it looks like Yuji Itadori will be the only that survive from the main group of characters.
