KAKEGURUI Spinoff series will get anime by Mappa Studio

Kakegurui spinoff manga series “Kakegurui Twin” written by Homura Kawamoto, will get an anime adaptation in April 2022.

In the Netflix Festival Japan 2021, it was announced that “Kakegurui Twin” will be getting an anime adaptation produced by Studio Mappa. The series will be released in April 2022, exclusively on Netflix.

Synopsis

It is a year before Yumeko transfers to Hyakkaou Academy. Mary Saotome, a young woman born into a very ordinary family, has passed the transfer exams. She starts attending Hyakkaou Academy, however, her dream school is not what she thought.

Kakegurui Twin takes place 1 year before the events of main manga series.

Kakegurui Twin is written by Homura Kawamoto, and illustrated by Kei Saiki. It is a prequel series to Kakegurui, written by Homura and illustrated by Toru Naomura. The series started serialization in 2015 through Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine.

The main Kakegurui series has already received 2 anime seasons produced by Mappa Studio. A live action series also came out in January 2018 in Japan. While fans are waiting for season 3 announcement, a spinoff series is something to look forward too.
