During the San Diego Comic-Con International event, an informational panel announced that Matt Kindt’s drawn comic BRZRKR, starring Keanu Reeves, will get an anime adaptation produced by Production I.G. The informative panel also confirmed that there are two seasons planned for the anime series.
Movie celebrity Keanu Reeves will be giving his voice for the anime adaptation. In March 2021, Neflix announced acquiring the rights to this comic and the production of a live-action feature film adaptation and anime series.
When it comes to the anime studio, Production I.G is well known in the anime industry for producing some of the most popular series. Their most popular anime series include Ghost in the Shell, Haikyuu, Psycho-Pass, Kuroka no Basket, Kimi no Todoke, Moriarity no Patriot, and Great Pretender.
During the comic con panel, Keanu Reeves revealed that he was introduced to anime when Wachowskis made him watch Ghost in the Shell and Akira anime to prepare for The Matrix movies.
Keanu Reeves has co-written the BRZRKR comic alongside Matt Kindt. The comic is produced in collaboration with Ross Richie and Stephen Christy at BOOM! While Stephen Gamel of Company Films is also credited with co-starring Adam Yoelin of BOOM! A total of 12 volumes have been released, with the first volume released in March 2021. The anime adaptation will extend the comic universe by exploring different elements present in the comic.
