Chapter 349 Recap
Before we jump into spoilers for chapter 350 let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent chapter of the series, titled, ‘Battle Flame.’ Be sure to read the chapter yourself, you can find it for free, and officially down below!
The chapter starts with Deku “flying” towards Shigaraki’s “cage.” To accomplish this Deku is using multiple of his quirks including, float, fa-jin, and air force. And since Deku is out at sea there is nothing to use blackwhip on. As the young hero stresses out he ponders if he should OFA to its 100% power, he is about to when his thoughts are interrupted by the second OFA user. Basically telling him to calm down.
From there we jump to Dabi where he seems to be lighting everything he can find and see on fire. Alongside him are tons of Nomu’s with different quirks. From the side we see Ida struggling to get into the fight due to the heat and the risk they put on his engines. Regardless we see Ida’s partner, Todoroki approach his brother, going into the sea of flames. Before they even throw attacks at each other the two brothers talk, eventually Todoroki asks his older brother, if he was alive this whole time why didn’t he come back?
While smiling Dabi turns to look at his brother with a grin. As Dabi’s skin begins to fall off due to the heat and the chapter comes to an end Dabi yells out. He’ll explain his whole story and how his flames surpassed even those of Dad’s masterpiece!
Chapter 350 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 350. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.
The chapter seems to start with someone interrogating Doctor Garaki. It’s unsure what exactly this person wants to know but they land on the subject of Dabi, putting us right into a flashback. Here we see Touya burning on Mount Sekoto, yelling out that he doesn’t want to die. That it’s too early for him to die and he still needs to show Endeavor what he’s capable of. As Touya is almost completely burned up a man in a suit and hat emerges through the flames. Of course, this is none other than All for One.
After this we see Touya wake up from a bed in a mysterious facility. One that’s decorated with lots of children’s decorations and has tons of kids running around. Upon waking up the children run off to get this strange doctor who informs Touya that he’s been in a coma for the past three years. When Touya tries to speak he notices that his voice is different.
Immediately Touya asks the doctor to let him out so he can meet with his family. But the bizarre figure says no. Of course, Touya can’t accept this and is preparing to forcefully leave before a voice comes out from a nearby monitor. The voice tells him that repairing his body was extremely difficult and required the use of other people’s body parts to patch him together! Due to this Touya’s current state, he might not be able to use the full power of his quirk. As Touya realizes what this means for him and the relationship with his father the voice continues. The voice tells Touya that if he were to stay he might be able to revert his body to its original state, but only if he stays and becomes a part of their family.
In the present we see Garaki explain that not even the all-controlling All for One could convince Touya to stay. He goes on to say that after staying long enough to stabilize Touya burnt the facility down and ran away. Garaki then states that he has no idea how Touya managed to survive with his weak body all those years admitting that the next time he saw the boy was when he had become Dabi and joined the league of villains.
Jumping back to the Dabi vs Shoto fight, we see Dabi telling his story himself from where Garaki left off. Telling his younger brother that he did return home after the incident hoping that Endeavor and the family’s environment may have changed in the 3 years he was missing. Instead, when he came home he saw Endeavor training Shoto with the same training that Touya himself went through. Knowing that his father wouldn’t accept Touya in his current weak state he went off to train.
As Touya trained and trained his body slowly burnt away leaving him the way he is today. During this time the more Touya saw Endeavor on the tv the more his hatred for his father grew. Until eventually Touya died, and Dabi was born. As the chapter comes to a close we see Dabi, in the present-day, melting the All Might statue as he tells Shoto this. Then in the final panel, we see both brothers prepare the same attack as Dabi yells out that he will destroy everything important to their father! As their strikes collide Shoto yells out that he won’t let his stupid brother do as he pleases!
And with that, the chapter comes to a close. What do you guys think of Touya/Dabi’s full backstory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
