Nagatoro’s Voice Actress Recieves Critisim Due To Her Love For Russia

Sumire Uesaka is the voice actress who is known for her role of Nagatoro in “Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro” anime series. She is also known to be a huge admirer of Russian culture and history. Sumire also studied Russian language for 4 years. Due to her being fluent in Russian language, she was selected to play as Aarya (the protagonist of the light novel “The Neighboring Aarya-san who Sometimes Acts Affectionate and Murmuring in Russian“) for promotional videos.

Earlier, some of Sumire fans expressed concern that due to the ongoing political crisis, she will be targeted by internet trolls because of her love for Russian culture. And, as expected, she received criticism on social media platforms as the incident was shared on the Japanese blogging website, Yaraon. Here are some of the comments criticizing Sumire:

In Japan, where there is academic freedom, it is natural to assume that anyone who goes to the trouble of majoring in modern Russia is an agent of the Soviet Union, including Sumire Uesaka

Sumire Uesaka, you have to leave the Russian stuff. It’s inappropriate!

Interviewer: “Sumire Uesaka, please say a few words about the Russian invasion of Ukraine”

Is it true that Sumire Uesaka is a great Russian spy?

Here is a clip of Sumire Uesaka speaking Russian fluently:

It should be pointed out that Sumire has not given her remarks on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Despite of her admiring the Russian culture and history, she might not approve the actions committed by the government of Russia.

Sumire Uesaka debuted in the Entertainment Industry in 2011. She is known for voicing Hayase Nagatoro in Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san , Shalltear Bloodfallen in Overlord, and Kana Kojima in Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?

    1. She doesn’t support the politics side and didn’t you agree to this James Chapman when he said people should leave her alone, she only loves the culture and history not politics

    1. Whatever Putin does, it does not reflect the entirety of the race and it’s culture. This war is purely because of political reasons, if she admires the Russian culture then leave her alone. Why are you even saying that you’re a Filipino? What is the connection of your race to the ongoing war? I’m also a Filipino, but I believe you’re just showing your stupidity, you’re dragging our race down, and it makes us Filipinos look like idiots. She admires the Russian culture, but that doesn’t mean she supports the political agenda of the Russian government.

      1. Thank you from Russia. I’m glad to see that there are people who don’t blame the whole nation for it’s government actions. Despite our government saying that most of the russians support the war, i do not know anyone who really does. We keep protesting, we want this war to stop.
And yes, loving culture and language of the couuntry does not mean supporting the politics, so leave Uesaka-san alone.

    1. Everyone that is trolling her is real stupid because she clearly stated that she has always supported Russian culture and learnt the language not supporting the invasion of Ukraine, that she obviously wouldn’t have predicted, like how can you hate someone for something that they themselves didn’t know was going to happen.

  1. I dont think that’s people can like Russia and hate Putin. The Russians don’t even like what Putin’s doing so leave this girl alone.

  2. Only morons would confuse her interest in Russian culture and language with support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Shut your ignorant mouths and leave this woman alone. I hope someday you’re a victim of your own cancel culture.

  3. Please leave her alone, she only supports the culture and history and learning Russian, this doesn’t mean she supports the politics side, you can love the cultures and not have to support politics, even the Russians are protesting against their president and besides she just loves the culture and history not politics

  4. On one hand, it is immoral to lash out on unrelated civilians for actions of deranged leaders.
On other hand, her selection of ‘strong personalities’ is somewhat worrisome.
