For anyone following Dandadan, this month has been pretty eventful. Not only is the anime adaptation currently airing to widespread popularity, but the series also wrapped up its first-ever official character popularity poll.
The poll ran in November 2024, giving fans the chance to vote for their favorite characters. The results were announced recently, and while the rankings were mostly expected, there are still a few details worth discussing. A total of 226,332 votes were counted.
Top 10 Results (with vote counts):
- Okarun (Ken Takakura) – 38,699 votes
- Momo Ayase – 25,763 votes
- Turbo Granny – 22,920 votes
- Jin Enjoji (Gigi) – 18,499 votes
- Aira Shiratori – 14,271 votes
- Seiko Ayase – 12,821 votes
- Kumo Head (Zuma) – 11,935 votes
- Bamora – 11,464 votes
- Serpo 6-Ro – 10,549 votes
- Kinta Sakata – 9,760 votes

Thank you so much for participating in the character popularity poll!
I was overwhelmed with gratitude seeing how many votes were cast!
I was honestly worried for a moment about what I’d do if a crab from Hokkaido took first place, but I’m relieved the main characters were chosen properly.
There are so many characters I love who didn’t make it into the top 10, and I really wanted to include them. However, coloring takes an absurd amount of time, so I couldn’t do it!
Please forgive me for sticking to just 10 characters!

Observations on the Top 3
Okarun took the #1 spot in dominant fashion with a lead of over 10,000 votes. His combination of awkward charm, steady growth, and badass moments clearly resonates with readers.
Momo Ayase came in second. A strong and likable heroine who brings both humor and heart to the story. Turbo Granny secured third place, and honestly, it makes perfect sense. Her chaotic antics and meme-worthy presence provide some of the best comic relief in the manga, making her a fan favorite.
In addition to the main rankings, there were a couple of amusing placements worth noting. Okarun’s golden ball, landed at 18th place with 1892 votes, proving once again that Dandadan fans have a very particular sense of humor. Meanwhile, the abducted cow somehow managed to secure the 21st spot with 1674 votes, which is both bizarre and perfectly on-brand for this series.

For those unfamiliar, Dandadan is an ongoing anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, which began serialization in April 2021 on Shonen Jump+. The anime, produced by Science SARU, premiered in October 2024 and has quickly gained a strong following.
