What Happened Previously?
Episode 1071 of “One Piece” was titled “Luffy’s Peak! Attained! Gear Five.” The episode began with Zunesha expressing joy over hearing the Drums of Liberation after 800 years. On the battlefield, Luffy was seen bouncing as if revived by something mysterious.
Just moments later, Luffy stood up, bewildered as to why he was still alive. He wandered around, laughing hysterically, before finally transforming into his new form, Gear 5, turning completely white.
The scene then shifted to Mariejois, where the Five Elders discussed the World Government’s failed attempts to obtain Luffy’s Gum-Gum Devil Fruit.
They revealed that Zoan fruits have a will of their own, explaining the true nature of Luffy’s fruit: the Human-Human Fruit Model: Nika. Nika, the Sun God with a rubbery body, made people smile and fought without care for formalities.
The episode also featured Komurasaki and Orochi’s battle, with Orochi being burned by Kanjuro’s flame. Then, the real battle between Luffy and Kaido began, with Luffy pulling Kaido from inside Onigashima in a cartoonish manner.

Luffy later continues to beat Kaido, as if Kaido is a dirty rag and Luffy is tossing him around. Throughout the fight, Luffy never stops laughing. He turns anything he touches into rubber, which gives him the advantage over Kaido.
Ultimately, we are hit with the classical “Gear 5” logo appearing on Luffy’s face as he continues laughing. Kaido thanks Luffy for not dying, and now, we shall witness the last exchange of fists. There will be no second chances this time.
We also hear a new One Piece Ending Song named “Raise” by Chilly Beans after a very long time. So, Episode 1071 was everything One Piece fans could ask for.
