On Sept 1, new information about different characters of One Piece came out. Among many surprises, one thing that most stood out was the gender reveal of Yamato.
In case you don’t know, Yamato is one of major new characters in One Piece which has been recently introduced in the anime as well. Before the recent information reveal, Yamato was considered to be a male by many fans.
Every character in the manga calls Yamato as he/him, also Yamato refers to himself as a male so it is confusing to many fans. Some manga readers are even questioning that why would One Piece author Eiichiro Oda specified Yamato’s gender as a female. Here are some comments from the fans:

Yamato’s Voice Actress
Recently, it was confirmed that Hayami Saori will be voicing Yamato in upcoming One Piece anime episodes. She is a well known voice actress in anime industry. Hayami has voiced some of the fan favorite characters, including Shinobu from Demon Slayer, Yukino from Oregairu, Fubuki from One Punch Man and now Yamato from One Piece
