Overlord anime series is currently going strong on TV, but that is not the only project of Overlord that studio Madhouse is working on. An Overlord anime film is already in the works, and a new poster has been revealed to hype the fans. The official Twitter account titled the poster the “Theatrical Version” of Overlord Film.
The film is titled “Overlord: Holy Kingdom Arc,” It was announced alongside season 4 in May 2021. The Holy Kingdom Arc, the story of volumes 12 and 13 of the light novel series, will be adapted for the Overlord film. In “Holy Kingdom Arc,” when the kingdom is attacked by the demon emperor Jaldabaoth, the kingdom is forced to join forces with the lord of death, Ainz Ooal Gown, to defeat Jaldabaoth.
The production committee has not announced the release date of the Overlord film. Overlord season 4 is adapting volumes 10 and 11 of the light novel series. The film is expected to release sometime in 2023, before season 5.
Since its release in 2010, 14 volumes of Kugane Maruyama’s Japanese light novel series Overlord have been published. Studio Madhouse has produced 4 anime seasons. The first season started airing in Sept 2015, while the 3rd season aired in Jan 2018. The fourth season started airing in July 2022.
