Rick And Morty Is Getting Anime Adaptation By Same Stuido As Tower of God

Rick and Morty franchise is finally coming to anime universe. Rick and Morty anime spin-off will be directed by Takashi Sano, who was also the director of Tower of God anime series.

After the huge popularity of the anime medium, like most streaming services, Adult Swim continues to expand their anime library. They currently have some anime like Junji Ito’s Uzumaki, Blade Runner, and Black Lotus on their platform. Rick and Morty anime spin-off will be a good addition to their anime library.

Studio & Episode Count

According to Variety, the Rick and Morty anime will have 10 episodes, directed by Takashi Sano, who already directed two anime shorts titled “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil).” The anime series will be a stand alone work, and won’t be linked to the original Rick and Morty animated series. By the way, if you already haven’t seen these Rick and Morty anime shorts, you should definitely watch them on YouTube.

The studio behind the animation will be the “Telecom Animation Film”, which is a well known studio in the anime community. They are known for anime series like Tower of God, Orange, Don’t Toy with me, Miss Nagatoro, and Lupin the 3rd.

The anime director, Takashi Sano shared his views on Rick and Morty: The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion. It’s such a life affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”

Rick and Morty Plot

For anime fans who don’t know what this series is about, Rick and Morty follow the adventure of genius and alcoholic scientist, Rick, who has discovered time travel. Rick is also a grandpa of a teenage boy, Morty. Together they explore different universes and go on adventures. Sometimes, Morty doesn’t want to go on adventures, but Rick continues to involve him in dangerous travels.
