VIZ Media’s panel at San Diego Comic Con 2024 hatched big news for fans of offbeat action series. The hit manga “Rooster Fighter” is getting an anime adaptation, complete with a freshly released trailer.
The series, which has been ruffling feathers since its 2020 debut on web manga site Comiplex, follows the battles of brave chickens defending humanity against monstrous “demon beasts.” Its unique premise caught fire internationally, leading to translations in over 50 countries.
Check out the trailer below:
Sakuratani (the manga creator) himself couldn’t contain his excitement about the adaptation. “Chicken Fighter is finally being made into an anime! I couldn’t be happier!” the creator exclaimed. He went on to praise the production team, stating, “The best director, the best scriptwriter, the best production staff, and the best voice actors are all working together to create the best work.”
A Key Visual was released alongside the trailer for anime:
The anime’s impressive pedigree includes:
- Director: Daisuke Suzuki
- Series Composition: Hiroshi Seko
- Producer: Joseph Chou
- Animation Production: Sanzigen
- Production: VIZ Media, HERO’s
The series will air on Adult Swim. The anime announcement of Rooster Fighter was leaked a few days ago. Sanzigen, known for their work on “Black Rock Shooter” and “Terra Formars,” will bring Sakuratani’s feathered fighters to life. The studio’s experience with action-packed series suggests “Rooster Fighter” is in capable hands.
While no release date was announced for Rooster Fighter anime, the trailer offers a taste of the high-stakes chicken combat to come. Fans of the manga can look forward to seeing their favorite fowl heroes strut their stuff on screen.
Viz Media describes the Rooster Fighter series as follows:
The neighborhood cock of the walk is more than just an ordinary rooster—he’s humanity’s greatest defender! His opponents may be ten stories tall, but nothing is bigger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry—cock-a-doodle-doo!
