Solo Leveling Season 3? The Producers Say It’s Up to You, the Fans

“If you want a Season 3, it’s the energy from all of you fan communities that will help make it happen.” That’s the message from the people behind Solo Leveling, and they’re not just saying it for effect.

In a recent Reddit AMA, two of the key figures involved in the anime spoke directly to fans and laid it out clearly: a third season isn’t locked in, and its future depends heavily on how active and vocal the audience stays.

No Official Greenlight Yet

Solo Leveling Season 2, titled Arise from the Shadow, finished airing in March 2025 and ended on a high note. Episode 11 was even reported as the highest-rated anime episode of the year so far. With that kind of momentum, most fans expected a new season to be automatic, but that’s not the case.

During the AMA held on April 30, 2025, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi and A-1 Pictures animation producer Atsushi Kankeko joined a Crunchyroll-hosted session to take questions directly from fans. When asked about Season 3, they didn’t confirm anything, but they did explain what could influence the decision.

“We Need Your Energy”

“If we’re going to make a Season 3, it’s going to take all the support and energy from the fans,” Kaneko explained. He even tied this idea to a Dragon Ball reference, likening it to the Spirit Bomb. They need the community to come together and show interest, not quietly wait and hope.

Kaneko responding to a comment that said if they are aware of the r/sololeveling subreddit, he responded by thanking Reddit users directly, saying, “if you want a Season 3, it’s the energy from all of you across these subreddits and fan communities that will help make it happen.” He added that reading fan comments motivates him, not just for Solo Leveling, but across every project he’s part of.

This isn’t just about fan encouragement. Studios look at data. Streaming numbers, merchandise sales, community engagement, all of it contributes to how production decisions are made. If the team sees that people are still watching, talking about it, and spending money, that sends a clear signal that there’s still a reason to move forward.

This is especially important when you consider how long it takes to create just one episode. According to the AMA, each episode of Solo Leveling takes 10 to 12 months to finish. That kind of timeline makes any decision to begin another season a major investment, both in time and resources.

Both producers clearly care about the material and the reaction it’s received. Ko mentioned that certain episodes still hit him emotionally, even after spending so much time working on them. He pointed to episode 24 from Season 2 and episodes 4 and 11 from Season 1 as especially personal.

They also described how closely they worked with the original creators, making sure important scenes kept their emotional weight. Interestingly, it was Furuhashi who first pushed to make the anime adaptation happen after being impressed by the original manhwa’s artwork. That enthusiasm played a big part in Solo Leveling becoming an anime in the first place.

If you want to see Jinwoo’s story continue, the answer isn’t complicated: stay active. Watch through legal platforms. Talk about the series on Reddit, Twitter, and forums. Buy the Blu-rays and support the manhwa. Post fan art. Keep the conversation going.

The message from the AMA is clear. This series has a chance to continue, but only if the people watching it make themselves visible. The more support the series gets, the better its chances of returning.
