The manga Toumei Otoko to Ningen Onna ā Sonouchi Fuufu ni Naru Futari (The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife) is finally getting a TV anime adaptation in 2025.
This announcement comes with a teaser visual featuring the two main characters, Akira Tounome (the āTransparent Manā) and Shizuka Yakou (the āHuman Womanā). For those whoāve been following this series, this feels long overdue.
This manga, authored by Iwawotobuneko (岩é£ē«), debuted in 2021. Initially, it gained traction on X (formerly Twitter) under the authorās handle @iwawotobuneko.
Itās a rom-com with an unconventional twist: Akira is invisible, and Shizuka is visually impaired. Their relationship evolves through humorous, heartfelt interactions that explore themes of perception, trust, and intimacy in ways many rom-coms just donāt attempt.
The story centers around YakÅ Shizuka, a quiet and bashful woman who works at a detective agency. Her boss, Tounome Akira, is a classic gentlemanākind, composed, and impeccably dapper. But thereās a twist: Tounome is invisible. His unique talent makes him a natural fit for investigative work, allowing him to go unnoticed during covert operations.
Despite his ability, YakÅ, who is blind, can always tell when heās nearby, a fact that both surprises and charms him. Tounome quickly becomes smitten with her and uses his skills (both visible and invisible) to win her over.
The story also features a lively supporting cast, including a contrarian human male coworker and a nurturing beastwoman colleague. These quirky coworkers provide YakÅ with a blend of guidance and comedic relief as she navigates the often awkward but endearing moments of office romance.
The manga started as short episodic updates online and later expanded into digital releases. The print version has since been compiled into six volumes, all of which are currently available. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth picking up: the storytelling balances sweet moments with genuinely clever humor. It also avoids a lot of the clichĆ©s that plague the genre.
In celebration of the adaptation, Iwawotobuneko shared a commemorative illustration and expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support.
While thereās no information yet on the studio or staff, the fact that itās getting an adaptation in 2025 suggests the production timeline is relatively comfortable (as opposed to rushed projects like Ex-Arm, which we wonāt talk about here). If they stick to the mangaās pacing and visual simplicity, it could make for a solid adaptation.
