As the Dragon Ball franchise commemorates its 40th anniversary in 2024, fans have much to anticipate despite the sad recent loss of creator Akira Toriyama. Not only is there already a new Dragon Ball anime on the way, but a colossal theme park is also underway.
The most recent exciting announcement is the development of the world’s first Dragon Ball theme park, to be built in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as part of the country’s “Qiddiya” project aimed at making Riyadh a top global tourist destination by 2030.
You can watch the announcement video titled “World’s Only Dragon Ball Theme Park” below:
Spanning over 500,000 square meters, this ambitious theme park will be sectioned into seven distinct areas, each drawing inspiration from iconic Dragon Ball locations.
Visitors can step into recreations of beloved settings such as Kame House, the Capsule Corporation headquarters, and even Lord Beerus’ realm.
The park will boast over 30 Dragon Ball-themed attractions, including five groundbreaking rides that will push the limits of theme park excitement. The highlight will be a colossal 70-meter-tall rollercoaster based on the legendary dragon Shenron.
Guests will be fully immersed in the Dragon Ball universe, with the opportunity to reside at themed on-site hotels and savor cuisine inspired by various regions within the Dragon Ball world. The intention is to design an all-encompassing experience that immerses visitors in the realms they’ve admired in the series.
First conceived in 2019 by the Qiddiya Investment Company, the park’s development is now in full swing following a recent viral video announcement titled “World’s Only Dragon Ball Theme Park”. While still in the early phases with only concept art unveiled thus far, construction is expected to progress swiftly in the coming years.
No opening date has been disclosed yet, but the theme park has already generated tremendous excitement and anticipation among Dragon Ball’s loyal global fanbase.
In addition to the theme park, Dragon Ball is also gearing up to release its new anime titled “Dragon Ball Daima,” set to premiere in Fall 2024. This new series will showcase an original story featuring the beloved characters, further expanding the franchise’s reach and delighting fans worldwide.
Although Akira Toriyama’s passing earlier this year deeply saddened fans, his legacy and the adored franchise he created continue to thrive. With 40th anniversary celebrations underway, the groundbreaking theme park under development, and a new anime series on the horizon, Dragon Ball’s popularity shows no signs of waning.
