Yuri or Yaoi? What is more popular in every country?

I am a fan of the romance genre. It doesn’t matter what gender combo is falling in love, as long as it is written well. Yaoi (romance between two men), and Yaoi (romance between two women) are two of the popular romance genres.

Recently, a post has gone viral on social media, comparing which genre is more popular in each country? And the tool used for that comparison was Google Trend, which shows results on the bases of number of searches from each country.

So, which genre is more popular, according to Google Trend? As can be seen from the image below, Yaoi is more dominant when it comes to worldwide searches.

Here is a comparison breakdown by region:

In the United States, the competition between Yuri and Yaoi was quite close, as Yaoi had 46% of searches while Yuri had 54% searches. Philippines are apparently dominated by Yaoi fans, according to google trends, Yaoi was searched 66% of the time, while Yuri was searched only 34% of the time. India had an equal number of searches for both the terms (50, 50).

According to the popular belief, Yuri is more popular amongst men, while Yaoi is equally popular among both genders. As a guy myself, I like boy and girl romance because it is cute.
