Jujutsu Kaisen makes history again as the film dethrones Stand By Me Doraemon to become the 7th most successful anime film worldwide.
According to the Numbers website, Jujutsu Kaisen film has grossed US$183,249,667 worldwide, but this figure does not include Germany’s box office earning of US$2,574,760. The combined box office earning of US$185,824,427 puts Jujutsu Kaisen film above Stand by me Doraemon who had worldwide earnings of US$183,442,714.
Currently, only 6 more anime films have earned more than Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Demon Slayer Mugen Train is the highest earning anime film, followed by 3 Hayao Miyazaki films (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Ponyo). The 4th and 5th highest earning film spot is taken by Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You, and Your Name.

Gege Akutami started Jujutsu Kaisen manga series in March 2018, in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. However, this movie is based on a 1-shot manga, which was published in April 2017 in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine. Mappa studio has confirmed that season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will be released in 2023.
