The highly-recognized sports anime, Medalist, has announced its anime adaptation and got fans excited about the upcoming release of one of the best manga in its genre.
On May 18, the official page of the anticipated anime, as well as its Twitter account, shared the exciting news together with the announcements regarding the staff who will be working on the anime and a visual.

It was revealed that the brilliant staff, namely Yasutaka Yamamoto (Noblesse), will be directing the series at ENGI, Chinatsu Kameyama of In Another World With My Smartphone will be in charge of the characters design, and Jukki Hanada (Love Live! Sunshine!!) will handle the composition and screenplay of the series.
To celebrate the announcement of its anime adaptation, the author of the manga, Tsurumaikada, released an illustration for the fans:

Tsurumaikada launched the manga in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine on May 2020. Since then, the company has published seven volumes which were released on December 2022. Medalist manga is set to have its eighth volume published this coming May 23.
As of the moment, the official release date of its anime adaptation is yet to be announced. However, fans can expect the announcement of the possible release date to be in the Spring to Autumn of 2024.
The anime is expected to be released no later than 2025, depending on its production.
What is Medalist About?
The highly-acclaimed sports manga centers on ice-skating partners Tsukasa and Inori, whose goal is to be the best in their field. Inori, a fifth-grade student, aimed to be a professional ice skater and decided to take lessons from Tsukasa.
The former almost gave up when his dreams were crushed, but Inori sparked the passion he always had in him.
Hence, he decided to bring out the best in Inori, and together they grace the ice-skating rink with the goal of taking over the world stage.
Awards and Nominations
Since its launching in 2020, the manga has been awarded and nominated for different websites or award shows. Medalist successfully reached ranked 15th in the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2021 by the Honya Club website.
Out of 50 manga nominees, the upcoming series also gained the 16th spot in the 2021 Next Manga Awards in the print category. While in 2022, Medalist ranked 23rd in the 2022 Book of the Year list by Da Vinci magazine.
It also won the Best General Manga category during the 68th Shogakukan Manga Awards and was nominated during Kodansha’s 47th Annual Manga Awards in the same category.
