Chapter 163 Recap

Before we jump into chapter 164’s spoilers, let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent release of Blue Lock, chapter 163, titled, ‘Embodiment.’

The chapter kicks us off (pun intended) with Isagi observing and realizing the Kaiser Impact. He realizes that the style Kaiser plays with and his ego is exactly what Blue Lock was created to make. Kaiser is the embodiment of Blue Lock’s ideals. Before Isagi can think of this any longer Lavinho makes a sudden announcement, he’ll be using his star exchange to join the game!

As Lavinho enters the game Noel grumbles about upsetting the balance and enters the game as well. The two old enemies bicker a bit before they return to their teams. Before the game restarts Noel approaches Kunigami and gives him a brief talk on what was expected, he goes on to tell the former hero that he failed at everything that was expected of him. When asked if he disagrees with this Kunigami brushes off the striker and subs out.

With an open spot on the German team, Isagi Yoichi gets subbed in! It’s finally his time to shine, after lots of bench warming. Can he prove himself to his idol, Noel Noa? Well, let’s find out!

Chapter 164 Spoilers

Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 164. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.

‘Butterfly’ seems to kick off with a brief flashback of child Isagi, watching his idol Noel Noa score on live tv. Back then Isagi would daydream about playing with Noa, now he has three minutes together on a field, which means Isagi has three minutes to prove himself.

On the field, we can see the two stars Noa and Lavinho going one on one against each other. As the players banter with each other Isagi and the other players watch Lavinho’s insane and unpredictable footwork. Though none of them can keep track of where the ball is, Noa seems to have to issue keeping up with Lavinho. Isagi once again thinks about how he can help on the field and has an idea, if he moves in to help Noa, Lavinho will lose the ball to their 2 on 1 play.

But when Isagi moves in to block off the Brazillian star he simply lifts the ball over Isagi and Noa’s heads and manages to get past them. As Isagi watches in awe and shock, he realizes what just happened, Lavinho used Isagi as a wall to get past Noa. Instead of chasing his opponent down Noa has a quick chat with Isagi on the field. He tells his student that Lavinho is known for his dribbling style that toys with anyone who stands in its path. He further goes on to say that Lavinho’s dribbling style has been nicknamed, “the dance of defeat.” And with that Lavinho scores a perfect goal after clearing through the entirety of the German team.

While the Spanish team cheer for their captain, Isagi stands frustrated. Kaiser comes over to him and tells him that it was a big mistake on his end to try and come between those two players since they’re on a much higher level than Isagi. With the game restarting, Isagi knows that Noa only has 1 minute and 30 seconds left on the field. Within that time Isagi will leave his mark and make his existence known.

And with that the chapter comes to a close, leaving us with an exciting face-off to look forward to, next week!
