Chapter 165 Recap
Before we jump into chapter 166’s spoilers, let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent release of Blue Lock, chapter 165, titled, ‘God-Given!’ Since this will be a brief overview, I highly suggest you read the chapter yourself, wherever you get your manga from.
‘God-Given’ starts us off with Isagi starting the game back up after Lavinho’s goal. He plans to get into a better position than Noel Noa so that he can make his impact and “devour Noa”. However, his plans are completely ruined when his childhood idol gets the ball. With ease, the superstar is able to maneuver himself through a majority of the Spanish team.
This comes to an end when Noel comes face to face with the opposing superstar, Lavinho. The Brazilian star tells his players to guard the net well he takes on Noa, however, we quickly learn that not even Lavinho can handle Noa! With the opposing superstar out of the way Noa goes straight for goal and shows us all his greatest gift on the soccer field, his natural talent of being ambidextrous. Thanks to this Noa is able to shoot powerful shots with both his left and right foot, something he demonstrates as he scores a beautiful goal to tie the game up!
With that goal, the superstars’ three-minute rule is up! Meaning they’ve got to get back on the bench. And here’s something to get excited for, subbing in for Noa is Kunigami! As the chapter comes to a close we see Isagi and Kunigami throw some words at each other as the duo prepares to play together once more!
Chapter 166 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 166. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.
The chapter seems to kick-off, (pun intended) exactly where 165 left us off. With Noel Noa now subbed out Kunigami comes in to take his place, but before the game can restart Isagi has some questions. Specifically what Noa and Kunigami were talking about and what he meant by copy man. Reluctantly Kunigami tells him, seeing as how Noa is the number one striker worldwide, the wildcard program Kunigami went through was to force him to become as close as he could be to the number one. Of course, many players weren’t able to make it till the end, leaving Kunigami as the only successor.
With that out of the way, the wildcard hero tells Isagi to focus upon the game. With the team not passing the ball to Kunigami and Isagi, they’ll have to try harder and make their own opportunities. Now that they’ve had their little talk, it’s restart time!
The game starts back up with the matchup that fans have been waiting for, Bachira vs Isagi! Bachira continuously taunts Isagi to come and steal the ball from him, much like what he did with Kunigami. However, armed with the knowledge of watching from the sidelines, Isagi jumps in for the steal. H nearly pulls it off but at the last second Bachira sends it over to Otoya. After getting past Isagi, Otoya passes the ball back to Bachira, just in time for him to face off against Kunigami!
But of course, just like their previous match Bachira is able to get past Kunigami. With the main threats out of the way, Bachira is ready to go for goal but first, he’s gotta get through Ness, something he surprisingly fails at. Ness, with his ankle skills, is able to steal the ball from Bachira and send it over to his leader Kaiser.
However, in a surprising act of defiance, Isagi steals the pass and runs down with the ball! He has a shot lined up but it’s from a distance and his chances of making it are slim. But none less isagi, who is goal-hungry shoots it. With such a far-off shot, the ball is easily deflected and luckily lands into the German team’s feet. The chapter ends as Isagi realizes that without Kaiser he can’t score the golden goal the team needs. But by passing the ball to Kaiser Isagi loses his shot at proving himself and scoring his own goal.
On the very last page of the chapter, we see Isagi attempt to plan out a goal on his own as he thinks to himself. “This is a challenge I will overcome!”
