Chapter 167 Recap

Before we jump into spoilers for chapter 168 let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent chapter of the series, titled, ‘Cross Flow!’ Be sure to read the chapter yourself, wherever you get your manga from!

Picking up where the last chapter left off we see the German player, Benedict Grimm running down with the ball. He attempts to pass to Kaiser but sees that Kunigami, (Kaiser’s OWN teammate) is ready to steal the pass. Instead, Grimm sends the ball back towards Ness. But before he even gets his feet on the ball Isagi intercepts and steals the pass! (Again stealing from their OWN teammates).

Now with the ball, Isagi runs down the field straight towards a waiting Bachira, who is ready to defend. But, Isagi confuses his old friend with some quick footwork and is able to get near the goal post. Knowing that he can’t score himself, since he can’t “see it” Isagi is preparing to pass, seemingly to Kaiser!

But right as he passes Isagi surprises everyone, including Kaiser as he cusses the star player off and instead passes to the person behind him, Kunigami. Although confused Kunigami wastes no time using his powerful left-legged kick to blast the ball into the net!

As the chapter ends we see that Kunigami was able to score in time and Bastard Munchen was able to beat FC Barcha, 3 – 2. In the final panel of the chapter, we see Isagi as he crouches down and says, “let’s go hero, this team is ours.”

Chapter 168 Spoilers

Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 168. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.

The chapter seems to kick off (get it) with Kunigami discussing that goal with Isagi, mainly he wants to know why he passed to him. Isagi straight and simply tells him that he wanted a numerical result he could understand and use to stand out, and that was an assist for the game-winning goal. Without much more to say Kunigami walks away but it isn’t much longer until Isagi runs into Bachira!

Bachira compliments the goal but also asks Isagi the same question of why he passed to Kunigami instead of Kaiser. And as we all know from the last chapter Isagi did it because he didn’t want to become another one of Kaiser’s other little pawns. Plus Isagi knows he can rely on Kunigami’s left-legged kick and wanted to build on that. Bachira laughs it off and then tells Isagi that the next time they meet they’ll be full-on egoists, to which Isagi agrees. And as the FC Barcha player walks off he teases at his friend, telling him he has catching up to do.

Before Isagi can even respond Ness storms up to him and he’s upset! Of course, Ness is upset that Isagi passed to Kunigami for the final goal and not Kaiser. Isagi replies calmly telling him that either way he got the goal and that the numbers prove it. Still upset Ness tells Isagi that this team belongs to Kaiser but before he can continue Isagi cuts him off, telling him that he’ll make the team his. He continues on and calls Ness a suckerfish for the way he is acting towards Kaiser.

Ness, still upset is about to continue arguing with Isagi when Kaiser steps in and tells him that’s enough. Kaiser then apologizes and tells Isagi that he underestimated him. Kaiser continues on to say that he’ll cast Isagi in a bigger role from now on, he is now “Small Fry A.”

However, before Isagi can even respond Ego appears on the screen talking about the team metaphorically again as a group of fish in the water. And as the chapter comes to a close he hints that there is more than one way to survive in the water, teasing at a possible new system for the next chapter. Whatever it is I’m excited for it! What do you think will happen, drop your theories down below!
