International Blue Lock fans luckily won’t have to wait too long after the ‘Episode Nagi’ film is released in Japanese cinemas.
In Japan, Blue Lock ‘Episode Nagi’ is set to release on April 19, 2024 and just after almost two months, film will be released in North American theaters. Crunchyroll, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, has announced that the movie will be hitting North American theaters on June 28.
‘Episode Nagi’ will explore the backstory of Seishirō Nagi, one of the series’ most intriguing characters, before his time at the Blue Lock facility. Fans can expect to learn about the influences and aspirations that drove Nagi to pursue football and dream of World Cup glory.
The new teaser trailer hints at never-before-seen content that will add new layers to Nagi’s character and provide a deeper understanding of his motivations and growth throughout the series.
Crunchyroll has confirmed that the film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and an English dubbed version, ensuring that fans can choose their preferred viewing experience.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment also plan to release Blue Lock ‘Episode Nagi’ in select international regions, including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. While specific dates for these regions have not been announced yet, fans can rest assured that they will have the opportunity to experience this film on the big screen.
Unfortunately, just like Haikyuu Battle of Garbage Dump film, Crunchyroll doesn’t have any plans to bring the film to South Asian countries including India and the Philippines.
Blue Lock, the anime adaptation of the popular manga series by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, has captured the hearts of sports anime enthusiasts since its debut in October 2022.
The series follows a group of young footballers selected to participate in a rigorous training program called “Blue Lock” which is designed to create the ultimate striker for Japanese national team.
The manga series, which began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2018, has been a consistent bestseller, with over 30 million copies in circulation as of Nov 2023. The anime adaptation, produced by 8-Bit studio aired in Oct 2022. Season 2 of the series is also in production.
