After many weeks of back-to-back quality art and plot, there will not be a new Blue Lock chapter this week. That’s right, it has been announced that there will be no new Blue Lock chapter coming this week; this is due to the magazine that the series publishes in taking a short one-week break. Thus meaning that fans of the series will have to wait another week before finally seeing Rensuke Kunigami back in action, as was teased at the end of the latest chapter.

Chapter 155 Recap
Before we jump into chapter 156’s spoilers, let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent release of Blue Lock, chapter 155, titled, ‘Neo-Egoist League.’
This chapter kicks off, (pun intended), right where the last chapter left us off, with the Blue Lock players meeting the German team they’ll be training with. Before the players can even process what’s going on Ego continues with his explanation of how the Blue Lock Restart program will work. Each team that the players chose from have sent 11 players alongside their greatest striker to train in Blue Lock alongside the Blue Lock players.
After introducing these “star” players, Ego breaks down exactly how this new phase of the program will work. Explaining it through writing is pretty confusing so for that reason you can find an image breakdown below.
After these mixed teams are created, (explained in the tweet above), a league will be formed so that the five teams can go against each other. Of course, there are specific rules in the match that will force a player to evolve and go past their limit. You can read those in full by reading the chapter itself.
After Ego is finished explaining his “Neo-Egoist League,” he reveals that he has one more thing to say before he forgets. Of course, fans who have been following the series should already know what this is. Ego reveals that there is a player he wishes to add to Germany’s team, one that has entered through a “back door route” and is the sole survivor of the Wildcard program. That’s right the chapter ends on an amazing entrance by Kunigami Rensuke, leaving us on a cliffhanger wondering what is next for the series and this character.
Chapter 156 Spoilers
Blue Lock chapter 156 spoilers are currently not yet released. Usually, leaks and spoilers would be out around this time, however, seeing as how the manga is on break there is nothing to be leaked. Spoilers and leaks should be available next week Saturday as the manga is set to return that week.
Although the manga is on break, we do know one thing about the upcoming chapter. The fan-favorite character Rensuke Kunigami is finally returning to the Blue Lock program. As Ego puts it, he has entered through a “backdoor losers route” that put him through grueling training.
With his appearance guaranteed after 155’s cliffhanger, it almost guarantees that chapter 156 will either be a Kunigami flashback, showing us what he’s been through. Or a long-awaited reunion between Isagi and his fellow Blue Lock “unpolished gem.”

Release Date
As mentioned, the release date for this upcoming chapter has been pushed back a week. Chapter 156 was expected to release, Wednesday, December 15th. However, it has been announced that the Shonen Magazine (the magazine that Blue Lock publishes in) will be taking a short well deserved one-week break.
Meaning that the release date for chapter 156 is now, Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021.
