How Likely Is Bungou Stray Dogs Sixth Season?
The sole purpose of an anime adaptation is to increase manga sales —the chances of a sequel increase or decrease according to how much manga sales have risen.
Although the manga sales are not revealed in numbers, we can estimate them using Oricon and Amazon.
“Bungou Stray Dogs” is the anime adaptation of a manga series of the same name. The sales of this manga series increased exponentially in Japan as it is present at #6 in Oricon’s Top 30 Best Selling Manga Series in September.
As for international manga sales, it couldn’t reach the Top 50 Best Selling Mystery, Thriller, & Crime Manga Series on Amazon.
Sales of the source material aren’t the only deciding factor to greenlit the sequel. Blu-ray & DVD sales also matter.
“Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season” will go on sale as four Blu-ray & DVD volumes from September 27, 2023, to December 22, 2023. A good number of sales will surely increase the chances of the series getting renewed for season 6.

Popularity: Season 5 was able to achieve 7th place as its best position on the weekly popularity polls of Anitrendz, which is pretty excellent.

Bungou Stray Dogs is based on a manga series of the same name that started publishing on December 4, 2012.
It is written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Harukawa35 (Harukawa Sango). Currently, the manga has 24 volumes released, with 110 chapters in total.
The last episode of the 5th season of Bungou Stray Dogs adapted chapter 110 of the manga series.
Now, there are two scenarios. Number one, the studio waits for enough source material to be made available.
Number two, the studio adapts some spin-off series to keep the fans happy until there is enough source material to make a new season.
The spin-off series of Bungou Stray Dogs has been made before, which includes Bungou Stray Dogs Wan! (in collaboration with Studio NOMAD) and Bungou Stray Dogs Dead Apple (Movie).

Currently, the animation studio of “Bungou Stray Dogs” has only one anime project for the future, “Metallic Rouge.”
Because the studio is not working on a huge project for the near future, Bungou Stray Dogs spin-off, OVA, or a film is still on the table.

The sixth season of Bungou Stray Dogs has yet to receive a green light. So, based on the studio’s availability and the anime series’ popularity, we can take a guess on the potential release date for any Bungou Stray Dogs future projects.

Synopsis of Bungou Stray Dogs 5th Season
“Bungou Stray Dogs” tells the tale of Atsushi, who is kicked out of the orphanage and has nowhere to call home. He saves Dazai, a teenage boy, from drowning. Dazai offers him food and a position in his Armed Detective Agency, where power users solve crimes the state cannot.
As the case is solved, Atsushi is appointed. But, things have become even more severe for the Agency, as the state’s crime agency, Port Mafia, is now against Dazai’s Agency. So, Atsushi has to buckle up as this new ride in life is full of hurdles.
Season Five continues the story as the Hunting Dogs, a group of people with the most potent powers, are now chasing the Armed Detective Agency. They still have to prove their innocence as a good agency, which seems impossible. So, the adventures continue!
